Things to do

Cyprus is a wonderful island to explore and offers a host of activities, from hiking and mountain biking to scuba-diving and water ski-ing, from sailing and windsurfing to golf and horse riding, from blue flag beaches to ski-ing in the Troodos mountains. Water Sports

Available all over the island and charges on public beaches are approved by the Central Beach Committees. Prices vary from place to place but, as a rough guide:

  • Umbrella or sun bed CYP1.25 per day or part of the day
  • Pedal boat (two seats) CYP4.00 per hour / (four seats) CYP5.00
  • Canoe (one seat) CYP2.50 per hour / (two seats) CYP4.00 per hour
  • Windsurfer CYP5.50 per hour / Windsurfer (lesson) CYP5.50 30 mins
  • Rowing boat CYP4.00 per hour
  • Sailing boat CYP12.50 per hour / Sailing boat (lesson) CYP19.00
  • Jet Ski (one seat) CYP10.00 15 mins / (two seat) CYP12.50 15 mins
  • Speed boat (up to 49 HP) (self-drive) CYP12.50 30 mins up to
  • Speed boat (over 150 HP) (self-drive) CYP37.50 30 mins

Swimming

On every beach red-buoys indicate the swimmers' area, where speed-boats and any other floating craft are not allowed to enter. Swimmers must adhere to Lifeguard's instructions at all times.

LIFEGUARD FLAGS:
GREEN: Excellent swimming conditions
YELLOW: Swim with caution
RED: Very dangerous to swim. DO NOT SWIM!!!

Diving

The crystal clear water of the sea surrounding Cyprus is a colourful world in which to dive. With water temperatures varying from 27 to 16 degrees Celsius, and sunshine almost all year around. Cyprus offers one of the longest diving seasons in the Mediterranean. Organised Sub-Aqua clubs and Diving centres can be found in all towns and resorts, as well as at a number of hotels.

Tennis

Tennis clubs are in four major towns, the closest being Larnaca. Many of the larger hotels also have tennis courts and are usually very willing to hire out their facilities on an hourly basis and will usually, although not always, provide equipment. Costs vary at the discretion of the site.
